The countdown on the website reads 49 days, 3 hours, 41 minutes and 29 seconds at time of writing. Volks Weald is already a loved event, despite only being in its fourth year, for VW lovers who enjoy community and (of course) cars.
Established in 2017, Volks Weald saw three great years before Covid-19 put the event on hold in 2020 and 2021.
Now back for 2022, this year’s ‘old skool weekender’ is taking place from the 8th to the 10th July, at Penshurst Place in Kent. The historic parkland, with medieval house forming a backdrop, will play host to campers and day visitors across the three days, with live music, a good old fashioned ‘Show N Shine’, a trade village and auto jumble.
Music is a big part of this year’s show, including guests such as Happy Accident, a rock/indie covers band; Modnation UK, playing mod anthems to coincide with ‘MODified Saturday’ at the event; and Dave Manning, performing from the top of his VW bus.
“This show is aimed at the whole VW community – families, clubs, anyone with an interest,” says Jon Morton, editor of Air-Style VW Magazine and part of the team behind the event, along with Under the Arches and V Works. “Camping is now sold out, but we still have tickets available for day visitors and they can stay as late into the evening as they like!”
Saturday’s themed event at the show is ‘We Are The MODified’. The show website explains: ‘With a little play on the word “Mod” we are looking to invite as many VWs not built by VW. So Buggies, trikes, Baja’s, 365 replicas amongst many other VW based kit cars including coach built campers of all shapes and sizes. We would also like to send out an invitation to the classic scooters to come park up with us.’
